There is a vast difference between the ways churches are structured as organizations and how they approach gaining knowledge about God and seeking to obey Him.
Abiding Love Ministries SDB Church was formed with the following core objectives:
- To encourage being closer to God and applying Gospel teachings to every day life.
- Seeking God's Will as the basis of work and agreements of this church, and not the will of those with the most money, prestige, or influence.
- Personal accountability to God for obedience to Gospel standards of righteousness.
- Personal responsibility to God for checking any teaching against the scriptures and responding to the resulting convictions.
- Balance in scriptural teaching between mercy and justice, forgiveness and strong expectations for life changes expected by the Gospel,
- Explaining scriptural principles and purposes and not explaining away the Gospel
- The church is generally
- conservative in it's approach to the Bible's timeless message,
- compassionate in it's approach to people's past / present
- caring in it's support of those going through making life changes.
- community minded in its work balancing spiritual nuture with practical life needs in its work with people.
- committed to building a life more closely conformed to the way Jesus and the apostles lived with Godly love and love for God being the basis for life changes.
Summary Characteristics of the Group
- Leaders are expected to be the servants of the Lord's work and encouragers of all people.
- Members also have ministering and leadership responsibilities.
- The church Ministry Council, comprised of all members, has the final voice and responsibility in considerations and in confirming all group decisions, under the recognition that each person will give account to God for their part in hindering or permitting what He has designed and desired that the group do for Him.
- Teaching is founded only on the Scriptures, with a concern to avoid being ethically or morally conformed or swayed by prevailing religious or civil traditions.
- Suggestions for the work and fellowship of the church may arise from any participant.
- Children and family are a major important part of the church's work
- Anyone who wants to live in a closer relationship to God is welcome.
- Every attempt is made for God to be the final and sole unquestioned authority in ministry.
- Tithes, love offerings, and first fruits principles are taught but collections are not taken..
- Weekly services are held during the Sabbath hours to enjoy a blessing that the Gospel did not remove. Worship is done on the Sabbath, but the Sabbath isn't just about worship.
- Everyone is welcome, but Abiding Love is looking for those from the Rome area who are hungering for a change in their lives but haven't yet found a family.
